Favourite game!

The amount of options and ways of scoring make this game hectic - but in a way that gives you a similar experience to running a bustling tavern!

The dice aspect creates a good level of risk and passing them round deepens the strategy. The artwork also helps create the atmosphere and we prefer to play this game with all its modules after a couple of goes.

The variety of upgrades and equipment/workers for your tavern means each players tavern ends up looking very different from everyone elses.

Great game

It's no Quacks, but still an incredibly fun game suitable for beginners and more experienced players. Always a good time.

Deckbuilding meets engine builder

If you love both these mechanics then you’re sure to love this. For me it is Quacks of Quedlinburg next level which adds an extra layer of complexity and works really well.

Fun Dice Drafting

We love this game and have enjoyed it at all player counts. It's easy enough to explain to casual gamers, although I'd recommend playing without any of the modules first, but for seasoned gamers, add all the modules in after your first play. Yes, it's more to think about, but it gives you more options to be able to strategise. However, we've yet to play with the Open Doors expansion. Personally, myself and my husband, prefer this to Quacks of Quedlinburg, but that's just our opinion! We love the combination of dice drafting and deck building. Although there are random elements in the game, we feel that bad luck can be somewhat mitigated by the different options available, unlike Quacks which feels very much luck of the draw. Everyone we've introduced it to has ended up getting a copy themselves, so we'd thoroughly recommend it!

Huge variety in one game

I’ve enjoyed this game massively on the two play through I’ve had - the modular design to the board and the various included expansions make this something unique and very variable. There is very little down time as in most of the turn elements everyone plays at the same time, and the only real slowdown is the dice drafting. I’m very excited to try this again!

OVERVIEW

In the village of Tiefenthal lies "The Tavern of the Deep Valley". There, all citizens from the area gather, but it's important to attract new, wealthy guests for only then is there enough money to expand the tavern, which will then lure nobles into the tavern as well. But which tavern expansion is best? Should you focus on money? Or rather ensure that the beer will keep flowing?

In The Taverns of Tiefenthal the challenge is to skilfully choose the dice and develop your personal deck of cards as profitably as possible. The game is structured with five modules so that your group can add extra levels of complexity as you become more familiar with the game.

English-language edition.
