Berlin 1960
The ashes of World War II were still warm when the Cold War began ramping up between the Soviet Bloc and the Western Powers. One of the principal fronts in this “war-not-war” was the streets of Berlin, where the conflict was prosecuted not with tanks and bombs but with clandestine meetings and secret agents. While the political turmoil in Germany was escalating toward the coming Berlin Crisis of 1961, the world’s leading intelligence agencies, the CIA and the KGB, faced off in the streets, clubs, and meeting rooms of the city.
Designed by Virginio Gigli and Flaminia Brasini (authors of Coimbra or Lorenzo il Magnifico together with Simone Luciani) and illustrated by Santi Casas, this hidden role game is intended for large groups (4 to 8 players, from 14 years old), in sessions of about 70 minutes.
Cold War tensions run high as spies, double agents, and informants move unseen through the divided city. In this game set in the German capital during the Cold War, you'll assume the identity of a member of the CIA or the KGB. Throughout the game, you'll use various powers to try to identify your fellow agents and hinder your rivals' investigations and communications. However, every action counts, and the signals you send to your allies may be misinterpreted.
Trust no one, outwit and uncover your enemies in this game of hidden roles and deception for a large group of daring players. As a spymaster for one of these rivals, can you wrangle the spies under your command to accomplish secret missions that will advance the goals of your agency? Just as importantly, can you keep your secret identity under wraps? Can you unmask the agents of the opposing side and neutralize their efforts? When the chips are down, one agency will claim victory while the other will be defeated in this secret war of shadows…
