Wish I could get it to the table more..

Fantastic old game and great it's so much more widely available but I just wish I had some more friends available to play it with me! They say they're available..and then they realise what I want to play! Ah well, satisfying complexity but just a bit too much for me sometimes.

Complex, Clunky and One of A Kind

It takes a while to understand the rules and teaching this game to others is a challenge (especially without knowledge of the source material) but this game is unlike anything else. It is full of crazy moments and memorable interactions which allow you to feel clever when a careful strategy works out. Make sure you can get a full 6 players to play regularly to get the most out of it. Production and components are good for this price too!

A classic and complex strategy beast

So compared to a lot of new games, this near Demi century classic is a harsh and competitive game. Each player controls a faction, and each faction has unique powers and conditions, meaning each player has a completely different experience and method to play, making the game both exciting and challenging every play through.

This game is for true board game enthusiasts who don’t mind having a losing game, where bluffing and deception and negotiation are just as important as troops and resources, and where victory can come as a surprise or through a slow plod.

Teaching the game can be a bit of a challenge simply due to how many rules each faction has, along with the base rules. The game box rule book covers both the basic and advanced method of play, and I recommend to play the advanced game straight away As it includes the most interesting and dynamic rules. But I recommend ignoring the advanced combat rules, which are better for extremely competent players who enjoy stupid maths and a more attrition orientated game.

Overall, awesome experience, with the right people (and hopefully all six factions) an amazing morning or afternoon of heavy negotiation and strategy.
